A stamp generator online turns a short description or a few choices into stamp artwork you can download and use right away. The appeal is speed: no design software and no back-and-forth with a designer. The catch is that a fast draft is not automatically a usable stamp. Wording, size, legibility and file format still need your attention.
This guide shows how to choose between an AI draft and the manual editor, how to write a brief the generator can work with, and how to review the result before you pay for an export.
On SealsDigital there are two starting points.
The AI route. The proposes stamp layouts from a short description. You describe what the stamp is for and what it should say, and it drafts a layout. You then open the draft in the editor to refine it. This route helps when you are not sure which shape or arrangement suits your text, or when you want ideas quickly.
The manual route. In the , you start from a template or a blank design and set each element yourself: the outline (circle, oval, rectangle or triangle), the size, curved and straight text, fonts, borders, extra shapes, a logo, ink color and opacity. This route suits you when you already know the layout you want or need to recreate an existing stamp exactly.
Both routes end in the same place: the editor, with a live preview and the same export options.
Start with an AI draft when:
- you have the wording but no picture of the layout,
- you want to compare a few directions before committing,
- you are making a one-off stamp for an event, a gift or a small project.
Start in the manual editor when:
- you are matching an existing physical stamp or a brand guideline,
- the stamp has strict content, such as a registration number or a fixed address format,
- you need precise control over size, line weight and spacing for production.
Many people combine the two: take an AI draft as a starting point, then fix the details by hand.
An AI draft is only as good as the description behind it. A vague request like "a nice company stamp" produces a generic result. A useful brief answers five questions:
- Purpose. What will the stamp do? "Mark invoices as received" or "brand thank-you cards."
- Exact wording. Type the text exactly as it should appear, including capitalization and punctuation.
- Shape. Round, oval, rectangle, or no preference.
- Style. Formal, vintage, minimal or playful.
- Color. One ink color is usually best.
Here are three briefs that give the generator enough to work with:
Round company stamp with "NORTHFIELD PLUMBING LLC" on the outer ring, "EST. 2012" along the bottom, a star in the center, navy blue, clean and formal.
Rectangular status stamp that says "RECEIVED" in bold capitals, with a line underneath for the date, red ink, slightly worn look.
Oval stamp for a bakery called "Rise & Crumb" with "Fresh Daily" underneath, dotted border, warm brown ink, friendly style.
Keep the amount of text realistic for the shape. If the draft looks crowded, shorten the wording rather than shrinking every font until it becomes hard to read.
Treat the generated layout as a first version. In the editor:
- Correct any wording, spacing or capitalization.
- Adjust curved text so it starts and ends evenly around the circle.
- Set the final size to match where the stamp will be used.
- Add your own logo, preferably as an SVG so it stays sharp at any size.
- Choose a border style: single, double, triple, dashed, dotted or vintage.
- Decide on the aging effect. It gives a hand-stamped look but can hurt legibility on small or scanned documents.
If you are not happy with the direction, it is often quicker to write a sharper brief and generate again than to rebuild a layout that started in the wrong shape.
A few problems come up again and again when people move straight from a generated draft to a download:
- Accepting placeholder text. Sample words, dates or numbers sometimes survive into the final file. Read the stamp aloud before exporting.
- Designing at the wrong size. A layout that looks balanced on a large preview can become unreadable as a small mark in the corner of a PDF.
- Adding too many decorative elements. Stars, extra rings and heavy texture compete with the text. Keep only what supports the stamp's purpose.
- Skipping a real-world test. Place the stamp on an actual document, print it if it will be printed, and check it before you use it widely.
Designing and previewing are free, so take a minute to check the draft before you pay for files. The preview carries a watermark; that is expected.
- Every word is spelled correctly, including names and numbers.
- The most important word or name is the most prominent element.
- Text is readable at the size you will actually use.
- Nothing touches or overlaps the border.
- The color has enough contrast on white and, if needed, on gray or colored backgrounds.
- The stamp does not imitate a government, court or notary seal you are not authorized to use.
- You know where the file will be used and which format that requires.
Generated drafts deserve the same scrutiny as any other artwork. Our guide to shows how teams split the work between the tool and a person who signs off.
Pick the export that matches the job:
- PNG ($2.50) with a transparent background, at 1x, 3x or 10x, for documents, slides and email.
- PNG + SVG + EPS ($2.90) if you might order a physical stamp or send the file to a printer.
- All six formats ($3.50): PNG, JPG, SVG, EPS, PDF and DOCX.
- Unlimited plans ($15.90 per month, $119 per year or $299 lifetime) if you create stamps regularly.
A single export does not require an account. To stamp a PDF, use the free : upload the document, place the stamp image, resize it and download the result. Files are processed in the browser and cleared about an hour after use.
A generated stamp is visual artwork. It is not a digital signature or an electronic seal, and it does not prove who applied it or detect later changes to a document. For contracts and regulated paperwork, use an e-signature service and check the rules that apply to you.
A generator can propose layouts, but you remain responsible for the content. Only use names, logos and marks you have the right to use, and keep official seals for the people and organizations entitled to them.

Is a stamp generator online free to use?
Designing and previewing on SealsDigital is free. You pay when you export files, either per design or through an unlimited plan. A single export does not require an account.
Should I start with the AI generator or the editor?
Start with the AI generator if you know what the stamp should say but not how it should look. Start in the editor if you are matching an existing stamp, following brand rules or need exact measurements. Either way, the final adjustments happen in the editor.
Can I recreate my existing rubber stamp?
Usually, yes. Pick the closest template in the editor, match the shape and size, type the wording exactly and choose a similar font and border. Compare the preview with a clean impression of the original before you export.
Which file format should I download?
Choose a transparent PNG for documents and email. Add SVG and EPS if a print shop or stamp manufacturer will use the file. The six-format bundle also covers JPG, PDF and DOCX for other workflows.
