Prescriptions leave little margin, and bags are absorbent. For more on medical layouts, read how to design a medical seal.
Rectangles fit prescription margins, labels and receipts. Round or oval designs look better on bags and loyalty cards.
Dispensing stamps are commonly 38 × 14 mm to 50 × 20 mm. Bag stamps work at 40 to 60 mm; loyalty marks at 10 to 15 mm.
A color that differs from the prescriber’s blue or black, such as green or violet, makes the dispensing mark stand out. Black is best for anything that will be scanned.
License numbers in small type blur first. Keep them at least as large as the address and test on carbon copies; the article on why a stamp fades on photocopies explains the fixes.
A mortar and pestle or a capsule icon reads well. Avoid the red cross emblem, which is protected. A Gulf pharmacy can set Arabic on the top arc and English below.

No. Dispensing label contents are set by law in many countries, in the UK by the Human Medicines Regulations 2012. The bag stamp only adds your branding and contact details.
